De La Soul was one of the most influential hip-hop groups through the late 80s and are often credited with helping to shape the genre's landscape with their eclectic style, use of sampling, and positive messaging. "The Grind Date" is their sixth studio album, originally released in 2004, and was their final album together until their return 12 years later in 2016. It was a return to form, with critical acclaim they hadn't experienced since their unparalleled run of albums from 1989-1996.
