Raphaela Gromes
The young German cellist Raphaela Gromes celebrates the 200th birthday of Jacques Offenbach with an highly interesting album. With works for cello/piano and two cellos, plus the world-premiere recording of Offenbach's "Tarantelle" and a fantastic arrangement of the composers famous "Barcarolle".
When the music world celebrates the 200th birthday of Jacques Offenbach in June 2019, one commemorates the inventor of operretta like Orpheus in the Underworld and Hoffmann's Fantastical Tales. But before Offenbach was highly acclaimed in music theater, he made a great career as a cellist and was even celebrated throughout Europe as the "Liszt of the cello". On the occasion of his 200th birthday, the young cellist Raphaela Gromes dedicates her new recording to extremely attractive pieces by Offenbach for cello and piano and for two cellos.
