Björk Orkestral (Live)
The unique concert experience with Björk and choir, recorded at Harpa on October 24, 2021, in Reykjavik, is now getting a physical release for the first time.
In 2021, Björk performed a series of four orchestral concerts at Harpa in Reykjavik, which were livestreamed. At these intimate concerts, Björk was accompanied by members of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Hamrahlíð Choir, and the flute septet Viibra. The proceeds from the concerts went to Kvennaathvarfið, a women's shelter in Reykjavik.
During the concert series, Björk was joined by over 100 Icelandic musicians. The concerts were among the first live performances with an audience from a major international artist after the COVID-19 pandemic had brought the live industry to a standstill.
This release contains the live recording from the concert on October 24, 2021, where Björk performed together with the Hamrahlíð Choir under the direction of conductor Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir. Musical director Bergur Þórisson also contributed on organ and electronics. The concert's repertoire consisted primarily of songs from Björk's albums Medúlla (2004), Biophilia (2011), and Utopia (2017).
