River is back and this time she faces something most unusual. After responding to an assignment to go to a minor Empire and recover the Battle Cruiser Hammerstrong. Which had been taken captive by the Quallintel Empire, she receives a package. This package, as innocent as it appeared, would be the start of a battle the likes of which she had never experienced. Follow River, her ship Space Wasp and her crew as they deal with the impact of this strange and beautiful gift and its impact on all the Empires that hear of it or come in contact with it. She would be kicked out of the Shadainian Empire, hunted by the United Earth System and aggressively stalked by every other Empire in their region of the galaxy. River would learn of the secret of the Scepter only to have to send it away or watch the galaxy come under its control and ultimate destruction. She would face her own temptations and desires for the Scepter. A weapon that would give her control of the entire galaxy if not the universe.
