The Faerie Queene, Part I
Edmund Spenser
The full, first half of the ancient text: The Faerie Queene. The Faerie Queene is an enormous, epic poem written by Edmund Spenser. Though the text goes into a lot of original story, deviating from the traditional myths somewhat, Arthur, Merlin, and many others make appearances.
The first three volumes of the poem were published in 1590, and six years later the rest were also published. Spenser originally intended to publish 12 volumes, but died before he could complete them.
