Four Arthurs: Comparison of the Presentation of King Arthur's Character in Selected Medieval Poems

King Arthur, the warlord. King Arthur, the wounded lover. King Arthur, the leader. King Arthur, the spoilt child. These are four different characteristics that King Arthur has in Mallory?s Le Morte Darthur, Alliterative Morte Arthure, Stanzaic Le Morte Arthur and in the Pearl poet?s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. King Arthur has always been in people?s mind as Britain?s national hero without any flaws. In these four literary pieces four different aspects are introduced of the same mythological figure and they are not as perfect as they should be. However in the end we realize that all these things bring King Arthur, the one that shows similar heroic traits to Jesus, Harry Potter, Beowulf and many other folktale heroes, closer to us, human beings than we expected.
