William (1756-1824) and Grace (Ballingall) (1741-1829) Pratt

Grace Ballingall was the daughter of George Ballingall (1714-1793), the tenant farmer of Rameldry, Kettle Parish and would spend her entire life in the parish. She would marry into another prominent Fife farming family; the Pratt's who at that time were residing in the parish as well. Although William Pratt was quite a bit younger than Grace, they had eight children who were all born at Devon Farm in the parish of Kettle. She was 54 years of age when her last child was born. William Pratt held tenancy over Devon for 44 years until his death in 1824. Grace would survive him for another five years and die in 1829 in Freuchie Manse at the age of 87. This then is the narrative of the life and times of William and Grace Pratt, the tenant farmers of Devon, Kettle Parish.
