Orphans of the Cauldron

The finding suggests that the sea at the top of the world already has morphed into a new and very different state, with major implications...in the long term perhaps for the pace of global warming itself." Thus reads the front page of the Washington Post on December 12, 2018. Twenty years later and the prophesy has been fulfilled. The planet has heated far beyond the expectations of the most dire predictive models climate scientists had developed. The natural rhythms of life on the Earth change dramatically as storms, drought, rising seas and wildfires devour the landscape man has known since the dawn of civilization. The institutions that were built to assure civilization can exist are suddenly thrown into disarray. Food and water are no longer available, electrical power grids fail and vital transportation systems collapse. Chaos ensues as economies crumble, governments teeter and war erupts. The boiling oceans and broiling skies unleash dangers which were foreseen, and could have been prevented...but weren't. A courageous cast of women and men are thrust into this nightmare scenario. They come face to face with the best and worst impulses of our species. Their mission is to rescue humanity from this domino effect of catastrophes as it struggles to adapt to life unlike any imagined in the past, for we all are about to become, Orphans of the Cauldron.
