Devil's Pie

Writing personal experiences can inadvertently turn the story into a biography: the challenge is especially daunting to protect the narrative from becoming self-congratulatory or a stale rumination. That sobriety was ensured by the powerful people who chose me as their enemy. Therefore, as the wise always say, the first expression of gratitude must be to the Devil, without whom, my life would have been perhaps as eventful as a snail.
