This work examined the functional, architectural and planning characteristics in the design of office buildings in Bulgaria. Due to lack of current legislation in Bulgaria, for newly built office buildings are appling international quality standards, but not adapted to regional specificities. The focus is on examples of regulations in other countries and systematic exposition of knowledge known until now to design office buildings. The main thesis of the dissertation is formulated: The design of office buildings in Bulgaria can be improved by applying modern, adequate architectural and planning principles and availability of regulated evaluation criteria. The author has systematized the material concerning the subject of dissertation. An examines and establishment of the main factors that influence the design of office buildings is made. Single terminological base is introduced and justified. Outlines the local criteria for assessment of buildings in accordance with the achieved in the world practice, which could serve as a basis for updating the standards for the design of office buildings in Bulgaria. Outlines the basic principles of design - modularity, flexibility, polyfunctionality, social interaction, suitability. Account is taken of the importance of the correlation between internal spatial structure of the office building and functional characteristics of the management process. Expected economic effect of development - increasing efficiency in the design and saving capital investments.
