How I See It challenges femininity and masculinity as gender-ambiguous Sam moves to a new city, meets new people, and explores love interests. In this post-adolescent coming -of-age story, Sam wrestles with transforming childhood innocence into meaningful?yet sometimes painfully gained?experience. While questioning the value of innocence and even ignorance, Sam considers what makes life worth living: "I had to ask the question of innocence. Each day we live, we lose a little bit of our innocence. Every experience we have takes away from the bank of childhood ignorance, and the veil is raised a bit more. I have learned to value the lessons I learn from experience. Using my values, I have to think that innocence is overrated because it isn't something I learn from."
