Johnson, a loner for some time, runs across a woman passed out from the noonday heat. He helps her and they seem to hit it off right from the first. This is very rare since after the nuclear attack which took out the entire grid, plunging the entire nation virtually back into the stone age, people don't trust each other. As it turns out they get together and she tells him why she was out where she was, looking for women in trouble, starving, destitute women looking for any way to make a living. Even at the only bordello within four hundred miles run by a woman named Magdalene. She suggests she can get him a job as a guard at what amounts to a fort and they head there. Along the way they run into a teenage girl Johnson knew the mother of; her home had been burnt to the ground and everyone killed in a marauding raid. They bury the dead and take her with them. Once at the bordello Jonson meets Becky, Sarah's sister, who also works there. The next day a major robbery hits the fort and some of the counting women are killed and lots of gold is taken. Johnson heads off along with others to get the gold back and seek revenge. As he leaves he learns they also took Becky, Sarah's little virgin sister...
