Christian Prayer
Alan R Kemp
Most of the prayers contained within this anthology come from both the western Catholic and eastern Orthodox liturgical traditions. A few come from the Liberal Catholic tradition. Among the prayers from the western Catholic tradition are such mainstays as the "Glory be ...," "Anima Christi," "Guardian Angel Prayer," "Breastplate of St. Patrick," "Prayer of Peace of St. Francis of Assisi," "Prayer of the Rosary," and "Stations of the Cross." Also included within this tradition is Mother Teresa of Calcutta's "Anyway." Within the eastern tradition is that jewel called the Jesus Prayer, a mainstay of the monastic hesychastic tradition, which is introduced by H. R. H. Princess Ileana of Romania. The prayers are included in this book as a way to provide the reader with an easy quick reference resource. Our hope is that it will serve as an accessible guide to sojourners interested in developing their interior spiritual lives.
