The Life and Times of Rascallion Raccoon

Rascal Raccoon's amateur soccer team is toiling under the tough tutelage of coach Geezer Goodrat, especially young turtle Wemmick, who isn't really built for speed. And it seems that every time Rascal and Wemmick try to unwind after practices, the mopey Marvin pops up. When circumstances call for a celebration of the lackluster cat, Rascal seizes the opportunity to hold the party at the tiny nocturnal waffle house of struggling friend Gladys Flower. Unfortunately, the party does not go as expected, and it doesn't take long to figure out that the bully who runs the business next door is largely to blame for the inexplicable smoking pans and collapsing furniture. Happily, Rascal's best friend Edison is back from Spain, and with that supremely capable snake at hand, it should be only a matter of time before peace and jollity are restored.

At times comic and at times tragic (tragic bits are also comic, fortunately), this book about the adventure of forming friendships also includes a carnival, a fire, a mysterious door, meetings and celebrations in dilapidated buildings and swanky hotels, and even a free trial zither lesson with a celebrated zither maker. The book should appeal to anyone looking for a fun, rollicking read with a cast of unique and unforgettable characters.
