Twalinohamba Akawa
Globally, marine fisheries resources as a source of food and income are under the threat of over-utilization. Sustainable development of these resources to satisfy needs of the present and future generations is an absolute necessity. Achieving sustainable development is a major challenge, especially among developing fishing nations which depend more on fisheries resources. In Namibia, a developing fishing nation, many fisheries resources were over-utilized pre-independence. Thus, measures implemented post-independence were aimed at sustainable development of fisheries resources. Sustainability analysis of the Namibian marine fishing sub-sector has never been done before. Hence, this book gives a sustainability analysis of the Namibian marine fishing sub-sector using a total of seven indicators covering all aspects of sustainable development such as ecological, socio-economic, and technological. Key features of this book: ? Sustainability analysis of the sub-sector using indicators. ? Development trends construction and interpretation of the sub-sector. The book can be useful to students, researchers, fisheries managers and anyone interested in the field of sustainable development.
