Multiresidue Analysis of Pesticides in Food: Matrix Impact, method Validation and Uncertainty Estimation for Fruit Samples

Pesticide agrochemicals have long been used for improving agricultural production. Injudicious use of pesticides on crops with alarming amounts of residues retained in food pose threat to public health. Assurance of food safety is mandatory to assist international trade of food. Pesticide testing in food is a challenging application as it implies simultaneous analysis of multiresidues in one fast run. With sophisticated techniques and fast mechanizations onus of unambiguous analysis lies on method chosen for effective analyte isolation from constituent food matrix. There is a critical need for development of procedures which can precisely and reliably estimate ultratrace levels of pesticide residues based on established MRLs. Method validation & uncertainty estimation are key considerations governing development of a multiresidue method. Apart from nature of analyte, matrix type also affects selectivity & sensitivity of a procedure. Present work is of wider interest to food and nutrition analysts; food safety ,research personnel?s associated with analytical laboratories ,toxicologists & agriculture scientists sharing and working in the area concerning assurance of food safety
