Outlaw

Gisli Sursson is a strong, soft-spoken young Norseman with a natural bent for poetry and no inhibitions about using weapons to maintain his family's honor. His bloody experiences leave him haunted for life by recurring nightmares, and eventually outlawed from the very society whose norms he has fought to uphold. This re-telling of the Gisla Saga Súrssonar includes all the incidents described in the original saga, and expands the thirteenth-century author's arguments against traditional Norse societal norms and the Icelandic judicial system. Maps, glossaries, and extensive appendix commentaries are included.
