Unmade Friend - Elegies

Unmade Friend is flawless, a rare occasion when each and every poem belongs. Reading it makes me happy: poetry really DOES exist. Unmade Friend is the best book I've read in quite some time.

"Sign post with no sign. Thank you for giving me no direction." These are the opening words to this incredible collection of poems that speak directly to adventure and to wilderness. I found, however, that the poems in Unmade Friends, Elegies, resonated with me on a deeper level as well. The wild places of the world give so much to those willing to explore them but they also take so much. It's a very fine line to navigate. In reading Waldor's poems, I found he was able to put into words the joy, beauty, pain, love, loss, fear and thrill of a life lived beyond the end of the trail.
