The Hound of the Baskervilles
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third Sherlock Holmes novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The classic story centers around an attempted murder that was inspired by the legend of a supernatural hound. Many avid Sherlock Holmes readers consider this to be the best novel. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was the British writer who created the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle's Holmes stories are still the standard that all detective and mystery fiction is compared to. Doyle also wrote The Lost World, a hugely influential novel that inspired Michael Crichton, the author of Jurassic Park. Doyle still remains one of the most widely read authors in all of literature.
