The Grand Babylon Hotel
Arnold Bennett
When Theodore Racksole, an American millionaire, is unable to order a beefsteak at the Grand Babylon Hotel in London, he buys the hotel on a whim, but quickly realises that not is all that it should be. Between them, Racksole and his daughter Nella uncover a conspiracy between several members of staff, which involves the disappearance of the body of a murdered man and the kidnapping of a German prince and later attempts on his life. In order to save the prince and pursue the conspirators, Nella travels to Ostend and later Racksole takes to a boat on the River Thames.
