DOWN THEN UP I remember when I had no roof over my head Hot meals or warm bed to sleep in at night Using candles and flashlights To see my way in the dark Camped out in the Antioch city park Trying to find an opener for a can Of peaches or some spam My blankets were wet from the night before When it rains it rains when it pours it pours I hear Mission Church is feeding across town Hamburger helper with ground round Hot coffee and a word or two About Jesus, and how he is in love with you I have some food in me now and I head back to the spot Stopping along the way to sweep Bonfare parking lot I tell you this so you will see That Jesus was in love with me Because now I have a roof over my head Kaiser plan and a nice warm bed I have a bank account with little Funds PG and E and a car that runs I have a Job that helps others And good relationship with my Mother I know one thing that is a fact My ups started, when I started loving Jesus Back By Johnny Austin
