There's A War On, was what grownups saidto kids, all through WWII.¿ It was theirexcuse for a lack of sweets and for having to live like moles in theBlackout.¿ It was also Jane's mother'sexcuse for dumping Jane to live with the Eastons in1940.¿ Unsure of her mother's love andnot knowing her dad 's whereabouts or even if hecared, Jane manages to survive an air raid and the war years, helped¿ by her allies Harry Easton and Sheena.¿ After victory is declared in 1945, Jane beginsher quest to trace her dad.¿ Sheeventually finds him and although their meeting is tinged with sadness, Janenow knows that she was loved and that she can face her mother, and all thatPeacetime will bring.¿¿
