The Naturalist in Nicaragua
Thomas Belt
A classic work on the natural history of Nicaragua by the British geologist who superintended the Chontales Gold Mining Company from 1868 to 1872. Belt was especially influenced by Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection and his book contains a great deal of evidence to support it.
Darwin wrote of this book: "It appears to me to be the best of all natural history journals which have ever been published."
