The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This narrative describing the first circumnavigation of the globe in 1519–1522, written by a member of Magellan's expedition, was published in 1874 together with additional documents on the voyage.
