Untouchable
A R Brown
I would like to say this book is a year in the making. In reality, it has been a lifetime in development. The title "Untouchable" is not simply a catchy title I came up with but the best word to sum up my life. By reading the title, one may assume this is a book about how I have lived an unscathed life free from turmoil or challenges. My parents divorced when I was a teen. I have faced the giants of depression, loved one with cancer, marital problems, unemployment, 25 weeks of anxiety hoping my daughter would survive in the womb, resentment and the list goes on. "Untouchable" as defined by Merriam-Webster means "forbidden to the touch, not to be handled, exempt from criticism or control, lying beyond reach". My life experience and the devotional title seem to be an apparent conflict. However, my family and I have been able to walk through the "valley of the shadow of death" unscathed as if covered by an invisible shield. This devotional was written to share how in the midst of chaos God can bring his perfect order to our lives if we trust Him. I walk through the familiar Psalms 91 passage to better understand the meaning of this ancient writing and its application to our present life. I believe this ancient text is a prescription on how to live an "untouchable" life. This is the life I have been blessed to live despite the many trials I have faced.
